2016 Guest Speaker – Brian Thomas

Brian Thomas is a Lake Worth, FL middle school teacher has always been passionate about running and giving back. In 2012, the desire to merge his two loves led him to start Road Warriors Corp. 501c3, a nonprofit that raises funds to help those battling cancer and other diseases. A year later, after completing a 1,200-mile charity run from Michigan to Florida, he was diagnosed with stage IV skin cancer. Dismissing doctor’s news that he wouldn’t make it, he fearlessly continued to train and run, even while undergoing chemotherapy. So far, his charity has raised over $70,000 for various patients, and the momentum continues to build as he recruits more warriors.

Cancer Research

Cancer research aims to identify causes of the disease and develop strategies for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and ultimately finding a cure. Much progress has been made since Fools Five began raising funds in 1979 for research, but cancer is extremely complex and varies greatly among types, leaving much to be discovered. We encourage you to learn more by following the links to the four medical institutions that receive our donations.

Mayo Clinic is a not-for-profit medical practice dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of virtually every type of complex illness.

The Hormel Institute mission is to conduct research and provide education in the biological sciences with applications in medicine and agriculture.
